Email Re: Field trip to the HOGG MINE - MARCH 29, 2008 Troup County, Lagrange, Georgia

Hi Robert,
I had a real nice time at the dig on Saturday! I am sending a couple of pictures of what I found.
On the way home I regretted not picking up more rose quartz, but when I got home and broke it up,
I wound up with literally 1000s of carats of facet grade material. I also was excited to see some
beautiful carving material. It looks like pink jelly! Anyways, I had a great time. Please feel free
to use anything I send on your site if you wish.
Finally, I recently sent 2000 carats of rose quartz to be faceted. I got an e-mail back saying that it
yielded 450-500 carats of faceted stones. The cutter commented that it was very clear for rose
quartz. That’s an understatement! I call it “Pink ice”. When I get them, I will send some
pictures.
Sincerely,
David
