Robert and Marcy's Finds From The HOGG MINE - April 12, 2008 Troup County, Lagrange, Georgia
|
Marcy and I attended the field trip to the Hogg Mine hosted by Bill Mitcham on Saturday,
April, 12 2008. Since Marcy and I did not lead this trip, I am not in a position to post a
report. Instead I am posting some of Marcy and my finds from that day. Bill has posted
pictures from the trip on his site, however. CLICK HERE to see them.
The next trip is scheduled for Saturday, April 19, 2008 with Marie Aldridge as trip leader.
We always enjoy digging with Marie and we are looking forward to a great day in the dirt.
For details and directions see Rodney's field trip page at www.dixieeuhedrals.com
Pictures from April 12, 2008:
Marcy's Finds:
This was Marcy's day for finding facet grade aquamarine. She collected enough to yield several cut stones.
The black dots are marks I put on the stone when evaluating it for cutting.
In addition to the facet grade, Marcy found this complete crystal.
Some very glassy potential cabbing rough
A rod in matrix that should clean up quite well
And an assortment of rods and crystal sections.
Robert's Finds:
I managed to find a good sized crystal.
A large fragment
And an assortment of rods and crystal sections.
Looking forward to next time,
Robert
